What Does "Moved to Chest" Mean on Avast?

Written by Super User. Posted in good 10

If you are certain the file is not infected, you can restore it to your computer from the Virus Chest. However, Avast warns that both restoring and extracting – which allows you to create a copy of the quarantined file and save it on your computer – are potentially dangerous because of the infections. You should only restore or extract if you absolutely need the file, such as with system files. If you are unsure whether you need a file, you can keep it in the Chest indefinitely. This will not affect the performance of your computer. If you uninstall Avast, you will be asked if you wish to delete those files as well.

SONAR has gone through several different evolutions since its initial release. As of October 2011, you can purchase the fourth generation of this software. SONAR uses several different approaches to improve its security protection including download “insight and reputation technology.” The system not only looks at how your computer executes processes but what kind of communication characteristics your computer has. By finding these traits, SONAR can capture and contain threats to your system. The latest version, SONAR 4, can also protect your system from non-process threats, threats that introduce themselves into active and legitimate processes.
