Attention Skyrim Modders: Host Your Mods at Game Front!

Written by Super User. Posted in good 9

Way back in 2006, this little game called Oblivion launched, and it was good. It kicked ass, actually. Then the modding community–full of insanely creative people–came along and said “I can make this kick way more ass,” and they were right. Everything from improved character creation, to graphical upgrades and nude mods, the Oblivion modding community has something for everyone.

But enough about the past. The future is here, and Skyrim launches this Friday 11/11/11. By all accounts, Skyrim will sport the same level of modability as Oblivion.

Naturally, you modders are looking for a place to safely host your creations. Here’s a little about what we offer, and why we’re a solid choice for your mod-hosting needs:

Hosting Your Mods with Game Front

1. Free Account: You can sign up for a free Game Front file hosting account right here. We highly recommend this option, since it allows you to conveniently organize all of your uploads on your personal account page. You can upload as many files as you want, and each file can be up to 600 MB.

2. No Account (Anonymous): This is a good option if you just want to upload a file right away, grab the URL and share it online. Head over to our “Upload” page right here, and upload away. It’s that easy.

3. Also: Our writers are always looking for cool mods to write about, so if you host something awesome with us, drop us a line at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . We’ll consider featuring your mod on the homepage, maybe even include it in a video feature on our YouTube channel.

4. When will my files be deleted? It depends on what account type you have. Anonymous files are automatically deleted from the system after 7 consecutive days of inactivity. Official user account files are only deleted if they rack up 180 days (6 months) of consecutive inactivity. If you’re a registered user, and your file is downloaded at least once every six months, it’ll stay up there forever. This is another reason we recommend signing up for an account. Your files will thank you for it.

5. Affiliate Accounts: This is only for most prolific modders out there, and we cannot offer everyone this service. With a Game Front Affiliate Account, you get direct direct FTP access to the Game Front database, and the 600 MB upload limit is lifted entirely. Your files also never go away, no matter what. If you’re an active modder that produces good stuff, or especially large files like “full conversion” mods, hit us up at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . We’ll consider hooking you up with an affiliate account.

Check out our official File Hosting FAQ for more information on hosting your work with us.

So, what kind of mod are you going to build for Skyrim?

Glen Schofield Wants Your Help Boosting Modern Warfare 3′s Low Metacritic User Score

Written by Super User. Posted in good 9

Sledgehammer Games co-founder and GM Glen Schofield tweeted earlier this evening asking Call of Duty fans to help save Modern Warfare 3′s abysmally low Metacritic user score.

Here’s the full tweet, which appears to have been recently deleted:

I don’t usually do this but, if u like MW3 go 2 Metacritic.com & help our user score. It’s suspiciously low. Be honest but help if u agree.

Schofield spent his next couple tweets defending this request against aggressive douchebags and general player haters, who called him out for “begging.” Here’s one such douchetastic tweet, with Schofield’s response:

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with a developer asking people who enjoyed his game to go and give it a good score. That seems like a perfectly logical and honest thing to request of your fans. Glen, haters are just always going to hate, man.

But what do you guys think–was Schofield begging? Do you guys see anything wrong with this request? Do you think Modern Warfare 3 honestly deserves a 1.5/10?

Modern Warfare 3 Support Strike Packages

Written by Super User. Posted in good 9

Tired of all the fighting in Modern Warfare 3? Would you rather help your fellow man than harm them? Well, you’re looking in the wrong place, because even the Support Strike Packages will kill your enemies dead, and help your team kill enemies dead in MW3′s intense multiplayer matches. Below you’ll find the full list of Support Strike Packages, how much they cost, and what they do for you and your team.

To get the full scoop on the main campaign of Modern Warfare 3, check out our text and video walkthrough. For more extra information and articles, stop by the cheats page.

Support Strike Packages

UAV

  • Unlocked with 4 points.
  • Same as the Assault Package UAV, it just costs one extra point.
  • The UAV is called down and scans the map for enemies, making them appear on your minimap while it lasts. The UAV can be shot down with small arms fire.

Counter-UAV

  • Unlocked with 5 points.
  • This handy UAV blocks enemy RADAR completely, while also disabling enemy UAVs and Advanced UAVs.
  • Best used before making a large offense to blind the enemy team.

Ballistic Vests

  • Unlocked with 5 points.
  • Deploying this reward leaves behind a stack of ballistic vests for your entire team to enjoy. The pile is usable, but requires a few seconds, so put it someplace out of the way.
  • Equipping a vest doubles your health, but once it is destroyed it does not regenerate. Equip your whole team and stage an assault for a powerful advantage.

Airdrop Trap

  • Unlocked with 5 points.
  • This airdropped reward looks like a Care Package, but it’s really booby-trapped with explosives. Anyone that tries to use it will set off the powerful explosives.
  • The explosion is an instant kill to anyone nearby. To fool your enemies, try to mix the trapped package with real Care Packages.

SAM Turret

  • Unlocked with 8 points.
  • This defensive turret, when airdropped and deployed, is a powerful weapon against any aerial enemies. It takes time to call in and deploy, so don’t use it as an instant answer to enemy choppers.
  • Prepare yourself, drop the turret, then pick it up for later use if the enemy is relying heavily on aerial Assault Strike Packages.
  • The SAM turret’s individual rockets are incredibly powerful against choppers, but they are lethal to drones. Any of the drones won’t last long.
  • Make sure to deploy SAM turrets in the open where walls and roofs won’t obstruct their firing radius. Small arms fire will disable the turret, though.

Recon Drone

  • Unlocked with 10 points.
  • This remote controllable helicopter uses a vision mode similar to the AC-130 or Attack Chopper, with your enemies highlighted in red.
  • The drone lasts as long as you can keep it alive, and if you’re smart, you can weave it through buildings carefully to avoid being spotted.
  • The drone can also “tag” enemies, you just need to aim and fire. A tagged enemy will appear on your entire team’s RADAR. The drone also carries a mobile scrambler.
  • The drone must be controlled remotely, so don’t forget to hide before using it.

Advanced UAV

  • Unlocked with 12 points.
  • This super-UAV provides positional and directional information on every enemy on the map not using the Assassin Perk.
  • Combine the AUAV with the CUAV to gain an intelligence advantage while depriving your enemies of any intelligence.

Remote Sentry

  • Unlocked with 12 points.
  • Like the SAM Turret, this Sentry must be airdropped and deployed. It takes awhile to get, but unlike the SAM, you take direct control of this turret.
  • The Remote Sentry is similar to the regular Sentry Turret, except that is must be controlled remotely and that is has 360 degree viewing.
  • With some support, this turret can bottle up a chokepoint.

Stealth Bomber

  • Unlocked with 14 points.
  • Similar to the Precision Airstrike in the Assault Strike Package, you drop a target’s location then direction to activate the bomber, which strafes an area with bombs.
  • The blast is much more powerful here, just remember that the bomber does not appear instantly, you’ll need to plan where you call in the strike.

EMP

  • Unlocked with 18 points.
  • Using this reward activates an EMP shockwave with several effects. First, it downs any enemy air support instantly. Second, is disables the enemy’s HUD. Third, it disables their RADAR. It also ends any electronic Poinstreaks and optical sights.
  • The effect lasts for 60 seconds. It is useful for knocking out enemy intelligence, but the CUAV does almost the same thing.
  • Save your EMP reward to destroy powerful enemy air support.

Juggernaut Recon

  • Unlocked with 18 points.
  • Similar to the Assault Strike Juggernaut reward, this must also be airdropped then deployed, then equipped to use. That takes time, so find a good quiet place to activate the armor.
  • The armor is just as defensive, your movement is still slowed. But, instead of heavy weapons, you come equipped with a Riot Shield and a USP pistol. You also come with Portable RADAR.
  • With the extra defense, and the ability to spot any nearby enemies for your team, you make a good focal point for any team-based offense or defense. With the Riot Shield equipped, the Juggernaut Recon can even withstand direct hits with the SMAW or the RPG.

Escort Airdrop

  • Unlocked with 18 points.
  • Another similar reward, this one is like the Osprey Gunner. Except, once called in, it drops five Care Packages and defends the packages just as it arrives.
  • Instead of taking a long time to set-up, before moving around and shooting, the Escort Airdrop’s Osprey will stay where you call it and defend it’s location. It is not so vulnerable just as it arrives, making it a better defensive Strike Package during a pitched fight over an objective.

Modern Warfare 3 Assault Strike Packages

Written by Super User. Posted in good 9

Knowing is half the battle in Modern Warfare 3 or in G.I. Joe — and knowing how to finish the singleplayer campaign is just as important thanks to our text and video walkthrough. Knowing what each Assault Strike Package does, with a few tips thrown in, can’t hurt while striving for dominance in the online arena. Below is a list of all the assault strike packages available in Modern Warfare 3, how much they cost, and what they do.

For even more information on Call of Duty, check out our cheats page.

Assault Strike Packages

UAV

  • Unlocked with 3 points.
  • The UAV is activated immediately, and scans the area for enemies. Any enemies on the map without the Assassin Perk will show up on your map.
  • A very important reward, it lasts for 60 seconds and can be shot down from small arms fire. Any additional UAVs activated will add five seconds to the UAV timer.

Care Package

  • Unlocked with 4 points.
  • Using this reward gives you a smoke grenade which will call down an airdropped crate. Using the crate will provide you with one random reward.
  • Only call in packages over flat ground, they can land on roofs! They can also crush you, allies, or enemies.
  • You’re more likely to get a low-end Pointstreak reward than an expensive one. Throw the dice and gamble whenever using the Care Package.

Intelligent Munitions System (IMS)

  • Unlocked with 5 points.
  • This is a very powerful proximity mine. The large piece of equipment can be deployed, and when activated, launches four seeking exploves.
  • Use it to block entrances and chokepoint to defend objectives. If you’re facing an IMS, just shoot it.

Predator Missile

  • Unlocked with 5 points.
  • Activating the Predator Missile puts you in control of an UAV flying over the map. Fire and you’ll be in control of the missile as it flies towards the ground.
  • All enemies on the map will be highlighted in red. If you’re shot while using the control console, you’ll snap out of control, so make sure to find an out-of-the-way spot.
  • The Trophy System will stop incoming Predator Missiles, or any hard rooftop. If you are using a roof, stay away from doors and openings, as the missile has a wide blast radius.
  • The Predator Missile is also good for taking out enemy equipment or Pointstreak Rewards. Choppers, drones, and Juggernauts are all vulnerable to Predator Missiles.

Precision Airstrike

  • Unlocked with 6 points.
  • This reward allows you to manually target a location to call in an airstrike. It takes a few seconds for the jet to fly by and bomb a stretch of the map.
  • Anticipate where your enemies will be. Any objective-based modes make this easier, as chokepoints are easier to spot in those game modes.
  • Find safety by avoiding the airstrike warning or hiding under a roof.

Attack Helicopter

  • Unlocked with 7 points.
  • Activating this reward calls in an attack chopper that sweeps across the map and automatically shoots any enemies with machine guns and rockets.
  • The helicopter is vulnerable to enemy AA launchers like the Stinger. The reward will stick around for a long time, if a team isn’t using AA support effectively, this helicopter can tear a team apart.
  • The helicopter has one set of flares to avoid a single AA rocket.

Strafe Run

  • Unlocked with 9 points.
  • Unlike the Attack Helicopter, this reward calls in five Attack Helicopters at once. The five choppers sweep through the map twice, you only need to choose the direction and initial area of the attack.
  • These helicopters have no flares, meaning they have no defense against AA launchers. These choppers are best used in large open maps without much roof cover.
  • If the enemy destroys one of these helicopters, they’ll gain a point for their pointstreaks. That means the enemy team can gain five points easily if they’re prepared with AA launchers. Watch your team, and gauge whether they’re equipped with AA before launching this reward.

AH-6 Overwatch

  • Unlocked with 9 points.
  • This reward calls in a small helicopter that literally overwatches you. It flies above you, and opens fire on anyone that tries to kill you.
  • The helicopter can give away your position, and comes with one set of flares. Use this reward when you’re not afraid to be found, like while defending an objective.

Reaper

  • Unlocked with 9 points.
  • Like the Predator Missile, the Reaper is a UAV that circles the map. Instead of just having one shot, you have a large supply of missiles to fire.
  • The downside here is that your Reaper signifies targeted areas with a big red mark. The Reaper can also be shot down; it comes with one set of flares.

Assault Drone

  • Unlocked with 10 points.
  • The Assault Drone is a reward that you call down with an airdrop, then deploy and control remotely. The armored drone is armed with machine guns, rockets, and a RADAR device. Hide somewhere after deploying the drone while you control it.
  • The powerful drone is perfect for breaking through a heavy defense or taking out enemies in Juggernaut armor. The drone is always on the enemy’s map, so it’ll be discovered as soon as you take control of it.
  • Beware of EMP grenades, and let loose with your guns — they both have infinite ammo.

AC-130

  • Unlocked with 12 points.
  • This orbiting gunship is controllable from the ground, and lets you rain down powerful shells from the sky using three weapons. Every enemy below is highlighted in red, making them easy to pick out.
  • Rapidly switch between using each weapon while they reload to avoid having to wait. Go nuts with the guns, you have unlimited ammo.
  • Do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible, because the AC-130 only has two sets of flares.

Pave Low

  • Unlocked with 12 points.
  • This bulky reward calls in a large attack chopper that stays around longer than the regular attack chopper. It’s got better armor as well, if you’re worried about AA.
  • The helicopter works automatically and requires no input from you, meaning it’s a good fire-and-forget reward.
  • It does only have on set of flares, but otherwise it’s all around better than the Attack Helicopter.

Juggernaut

  • Unlocked with 15 points.
  • Airdropping this package provides a unique set of armor to the player — including an M60 and a USP pistol. It also gives you access to the Scavenger perk whether you have it equipped or not to ensure you always have ammo.
  • While wearing the Juggernaut armor, your movement speed is slowed and you cannot lay prone. You also show up on enemy RADAR. But, your health regenerates faster, you take less damage, and you’re resistant to splash damage.
  • The Juggernauts are weak against direct hits from launchers like the RPG and SMAW. If you spot a Juggernaut coming, equip yourself and try to hit them directly.

Osprey Gunner

  • Unlocked with 17 points.
  • The most expensive Pointstreak Reward is also the best. Calling this reward allows you to control the weapons of the Osprey armed with unlimited ammo 25mm cannons.
  • The cannons are powerful enough to cause splash damage to anyone nearby the impact area. When you call in an Osprey, it arrives at your target location and drops three free Care Packages. But, it is immobile while it does so.
  • Make sure you only call the Osprey somewhere relatively safe. When the packages are dropped, it will behave like other helicopters automatically, but it won’t shoot on it’s own. You’ll need to control the guns, so find someplace safe to hide.
  • All enemies viewed while controlling the Osprey are highlighted in red for easy pickings.
